Support Engineer
Description:
This is an IT support services role for a candidate who will have excellent client facing and communication skills.
The candidate will be a person who can handle a pressured work load and be flexible in their approach. They should be positive and motivated.

The ability to use initiative to quickly find high quality resolutions to clients issues on your own even for subjects that you have not encountered before is a key skill for this role.

The most suitable candidate:
The IT support engineer will be competent with technical requirements, have a general interest in computers and technology and be flexible enough to be happy working in a small company where requirements vary greatly.
A positive attitude, enthusiasm, flexibility and good communication skills (written and verbal) are essential ingredients that will make the best candidates standout.
Desirable technical skills:
• The IT support engineer will maintain, configure Windows 2003 /2008 servers (e.g. Active directly, domains, DNS, DHCP etc.). Certification would be a big advantage.
•The IT Support engineer will have the ability to troubleshoot network / PC / laptops issues.
• Knowledge and good understanding of remote connectivity solutions such as VPN, RDP, VNC and other remote technologies.
• Hands on approach - ability to be left to resolve client computer issues and be able to persevere until problem is resolved and keep clients networks running well.
• Good knowledge of what small to medium size business use in IT and be able to install, setup and maintain these networks.
• Knowledge of Exchange 2003 and other Microsoft technologies very advantageous (OWA, Mobile).
• Maintaining web space hosting accounts, hosted exchange accounts etc. for clients and up to date on newer useful technologies.
• Someone who keeps at least reasonably up to date with what is happening in the IT world.
• The ability to independently research and understand new technical subjects and present summaries of these to peers.
• Full UK driving licence essential. Own transport would be beneficial.
Interpersonal requirements:
• Good, clear communications to both peers and clients when necessary.
• Positive and flexible to work and duties.
• Takes pride in work and has attention to detail.
• Ability when necessary to document work.
• Technical aptitude to problems - someone able to be self motivated to hunt for solution to new problems without losing motivation.
• Someone who enjoys working with technology and can work hard but also finds it fun.
Role duties include:
• To provide technical support to clients both onsite and remotely.
• To research and look up reasons for problems and document findings.
• To assist in all office duties even when these duties are not directly related to IT services
• To provide duties as requested that contribute to the running and growth of the company.
• Prepared to travel around London / UK as necessary visiting clients.
• To assist in purchasing of software and hardware on behalf of us and our clients.
• Make purchases from supplies and manage partner accounts. To research the best prices from suppliers.
• To provide research reports related to new and existing technologies.
• To document processes and actions as necessary and keep updated time sheet reports of work completed.
